How To Treat And Eliminate Your PCOS Naturally Without Surgery
The PCOS or the Polycystic Ovary Syndrome is generally a health condition that affects the woman’s menstrual cycle, her ability to have children, her hormones, blood vessels, heart and even appearance.
Typically, women with this kind of syndrome have high androgen levels, irregular or missed periods and a number of small cysts in the ovary. Between 1:10 and 1:20 women who are in their childbearing ages have PCOS.
The Polycystic Ovary Syndrome symptoms vary from woman to woman. Some of these symptoms include infertility, irregular menstrual periods, hirsutism, numerous cysts in the ovaries, skin problems such as acne, oiliness or dandruff, obesity or weight gain, thinning of the hair, thick black or dark brown patches, pelvic pain, skin tags, sleep apnea and even anxiety or depression. There is no known cure for this type of syndrome but PCOS treatments are available to manage and prevent further health problems.
PCOS treatments are all based on the symptoms. Some are even combined for more effective results. A few treatments for PCOS include:
- Changes in Lifestyle – Many women who have PCOS are obese or overweight. This can set off more health problems, so most doctors often include this in their patient’s list of treatments for PCOS. The changes in this type of treatment generally pertains to a healthy living – requiring regular exercise, limiting the consumption of processed or sugar-added food and eating a diet comprising mostly of vegetables, whole-grain products and lean meats. For, the natural diet solution for PCOS can help normalize the woman’s hormone levels and improve her body’s use of insulin. Even weight loss can make the menstruation period regular.
- Birth Control Pills – Birth control pills prevent ovulation. Thereby, it helps control menstrual cycles, reduces the male hormone levels and helps clear the appearance of acne on skin. These pills can also prevent further formation of new cysts and other complications by inhibiting ovulation in the ovary for only a certain period. In other cyst treatments, these contraceptive pills are as well relied on for similar purposes.
- Diabetes Medications – While the other treatments for PCOS were approved by the US Food and Drug Administration or the FDA, the diabetes medications were not. However, there have been a few clinical cases that prove that the metformin (glucophage) medicine for the type 2 diabetes has helped PCOS patients by affecting the way the insulin in the body controls the blood glucose, lowering the production of testosterone, slowing the abnormal growth of hair and allowing ovulation to return after a few months of intake. Certain studies even show that the metformin provides additional positive effects like enhanced cholesterol levels and reduced body mass.
- Fertility Medications – Since infertility is one of the symptoms of PCOS, fertility medications help stimulate ovulation. This is commonly recommended to females who desire to become pregnant and to give the doctor control over multiple births.
- Surgery – One of the popular polycystic ovarian syndrome treatments is the ovarian drilling, a surgical method used to increase the chances of ovulation in the ovary. Women who do not respond to fertility medications often use this treatment.
